I Miss Her |
Yep, I miss her. And I now see that she got online. She must be home! Hooray for Yahoo, or Yahoo for Yahoo. Whatever. Anyway, I've been busy spending time with her, getting to know her, preparing for the wedding, printing out invitations, building a DVD presentation for our family and friends. Low on my priority list has been this web page. It's certainly much easier for me to do this when I'm alone since I won't be taking time away from Tara, but I would like to be faithful to at least a once a month update here.
Last night I had my bachelor party. It was fun, we went to a driving range, batting cage, putt putt golf course nearby and then ended up at the same restaurant that Tara and I went to for our first date. They have a bar area that allows us to smoke cigars. My brother organized the whole thing and it was all fun except the batting cage. I'm ashamed of myself. I haven't swung at a baseball since I was 12 and it was pathetic. I'm not going to talk about it any more than that. It was cool to have the guys take me out, and give me advice on their experiences of being married. By and large this group is a bunch of happily married men. Certainly their marriages are better now because of the examples and instructions from our church. It's all about being a servant-leader in the home. Serving your wife with humility but also leading the household in the right direction. I can't tell you how much Tara appreciates that I take responsibility and put things on my shoulders instead of making her carry the full weight.
Tara is back in Oregon and we miss each other terribly. There is definitely a Tara sized hole around here. The good thing is that I'm not sad or depressed I just want her back in my life. Three weeks from today and I get to say "I do". I can't wait! We've become closer and closer with every day and marvel that we love each other more each day. This love and commitment stuff is actually pretty cool!
I'm going to Oklahoma tonight for a week for work. I'll be teaching 10 sessions on the software I've been working on. I have to finish packing soon. So far, I've only packed my work clothes. I need to pack some shorts and t-shirts because it's going to be 90+ degrees out there. Yikes! This will be a nice way to kill a week and bring me closer to being with Tara forever. I'm so absolutely excited by this and can't wait to marry her. We sent out about 175 invitations. We're having 2 receptions, 1 on the West Coast following the Ceremony and 1 on the East Coast 2 weeks later. Plans are coming together and finances are getting exhausted, but it's ok, you only get married once. Our Honeymoon should be quite exciting! We're headed to the Northeast to try to get away from some of the heat. I'll detail it when I get back from the Honeymoon! We should have plenty of pictures of the places we stayed and the things we've seen.
Well, I gotta finish packing for my trip. Talk to you in July!
